Creating a Healthy Home

As we get older, our homes play a bigger role in our wellbeing. The Covid lockdowns highlighted just how important it is to have a space that’s not only comfortable, but supports how we live day to day.
Improvements for a healthier space
4 points where small improvements can create healthier space are:
Light quality
Air quality
Sound quality
Insulation
As we are writing this from a perspective of a window covering business, you will no doubt not be surprised to find that window coverings can help with all these points.
Nevertheless, it is true.
Today’s homes present new challenges:
More glass and less brick
Open-plan layouts and bifold doors
Better sealing, which can reduce ventilation
Homes built closer together
Rising temperatures and changing comfort levels
The key is to identify what you want to improve, and look at options to achieve that. For example:
Light: control glare and natural light levels
Air: breathable fabrics / airflow (or reduce overheating)
Sound: absorb external noise
Insulation: reduce heat loss and overheating
Take noise reduction.

Now we are in British Summertime, the dawn chorus hits earlier, and people are in their gardens or out on the streets longer and later into the evening.
You may need to control that increase - dampen the noise level. You may not wish to run to the expense of soundproofing a room, but you know you need to do something.
We wrote a blog about this very thing last year
You can consider:
specific acoustic fabrics,
layering over existing window coverings
changing an existing window covering to something better suited to the task at hand
Creating a healthier home doesn’t mean starting from scratch. Often, small changes - like the right window coverings - can make a noticeable difference to how your space feels every day.
