What feels good to touch - wood, leather, fabric
What feels good to touch - wood, leather, fabric

As humans, we're inherently tactile. Touch is one of our most instinctive ways of learning and connecting - whether it's a reassuring hug, a firm handshake, or simply running our fingers over something to understand it better.

It spills over into our lifestyles - if someone shows you anything, most of us immediately reach out to feel it. Texture helps us process, connect, and make decisions.

It’s no surprise, then, that many of us design our living spaces based on what feels good to the touch - wood, leather, fabric; we surround ourselves with materials that bring comfort and a sense of familiarity.

Think about how popular cushions are on beds and in seating areas- we are almost trying to create spa days in our space.

Soft furnishings are at the heart of this sensory experience. From plush weaves to minimalist plains, fabrics and textures help us create space the reflects our character.

Texture helps us process, connect, and make decisions.

As well as cushions, curtains are an obvious fit. They add both softness and structure. Their pleats introduce a visual rhythm that elevates the room with a touch of understated opulence. Roman blinds and roller blinds also play their part, adding texture, tone, and function in one neat package.

If you are looking for something more natural, shutters and wood venetian blinds bring nature to your space, with a subtle, stained grain bringing the outdoors in.  We have used timber to build a home space since, well, we learned to build a shelter. It continues to symbolise warmth through its colour, texture, even a heat source.

Ultimately, your home should reflect you. Choose textures and finishes that bring you joy, calm, and a sense of belonging. Surround yourself with materials that make you feel good - not just visually, but physically. After all, home isn’t just a place you live. It’s a space you feel.
